Just A Normal Family During Christmas - Aleenah

 Christmas Struggles

As the we reach the final day of these writing exercises, I'm excited as I'm running out of inspiration for this but here is today's last piece. Where I write a story based on a picture.

Well here it is...

It was a lively night in the streets of a small town. But down the road, along the country-side, a hustling family was anticipating a reunion. The living room was festive yet busy. The fireplace was cackling, the tree was glistening, the presents were towering, and might I forget, the children were exploring, ransacking and complaining to get their hands on some lavish gifts. “Dad, what are we getting for Christmas?” a whiny voice had asked. “Dad, did you get me slide?!” another squeak of annoyance yelled. “NO WAY DAD, you got me a phone?!!!” a surprised shriek had shook the house. “Okay that’s it everyone now, I’m going to take a photo an-” a mothering voice was cut off and the three kids interfered with a mix of begging pleads and gorilla tantrums. Just then, the house was silenced and a buzzing of honks had alerted a car’s presence. “Everyone shut it and settle your bottoms in front of the Christmas tree and once I come in this house you better act like perfect little angels all right?!” Their mother had uttered every syllable so clearly and strictly that it sent the shivers. She had exited the house eyeing the kids and her husband, but once she set out the front door a pleased and utterly fake smile painted her face. Back inside the house though, was the father struggling while the kids acted like what their mother said wasn’t a death threat at all. “You, come over here and help me set the table real quick and then after that we gather in the living room okay” Their father was now just trying to piece everything together and hold his calm. While his elder daughter was grabbing a few plates, a thump had worried her and their father. Dashing through the hallways, their eyes had feared what might have just happened and well, it just did. “We shouldn’t have let those two in a room alone…”

Christmas Conversation - Aleenah

 A Bet With The Reindeers

After the 'Would You Rather's writing prompts, they became a little repetitive so instead my teacher allowed similar but uncommon ways of writing. Last week's was a conversation while today's is a festive theme, where I write a conversation between the reindeers of Santa!

The night sky was dark and blue but the cities below looked brightly illuminated, with the festive colors of the holidays. “What a welcoming sight this is!” Santa fantasized.
“HA, prancer you lost the bet” Rudolph taunted. “What do you mean this is London!” prancer groaned but protested “We are in the countryside!”. The two reindeer were aggressively arguing at each other and soon Prancer had poke all of Rudolph's buttons and nose. Of Course the reindeer wasn’t happy so it got physical. “You dare touch my nose!?” Rudolph had growled intensely, just like a grizzly bear. “You boys cut it out! And for God’s sake this isn’t London, you bums, it's New Zealand! If it were London, there would be snow so shut it.” Santa’s voice had echoed so loud that it finally stopped the ridiculous fight of Prancer and Rudolph - the world’s two worst geographers. But down in the houses below, a little boy trembled. “Mommy what was that?” “Oh those are..just the birds with the fat mouths” the mother said with no hesitation.

Conversation With A Giraffe? - Aleenah

 Just A Normal Conversation

Today featured a new writing prompt, we were to imagine and write a conversation between two giraffes in this picture. I really am not so confident in my piece so I suggest you read my class', they wrote AMAZING ones! but here is mine...

"Two giraffes were trailing around the sandy terrain of a deserted beach or so they thought...A lost wanderer had been basking in the warm delight of our bright star, they seemed relaxed as one of the giraffe’s examined until their shadows alerted their presence. “Yo, why is a tree standing here, its branches are swaying like the monkey family…” One giraffe whispered. “And it’s bouncing too..” both towering beasts gasped. Well the person whom the giraffes considered a naked trunk of a tree was a human in utter shock yet they quickly returned to reality by wanting to savior this moment. Their hands launched into its bag and scavenged it for a camera, a flashy one too. Without thinking it snapped and flashed...click, click, click. Blinded by their presence the giraffes turned wild. “AHHHHHH, Shortie run!!!!!!” a crazed giraffe ran. “What the heck do you think I’m doing??!!!” Shortie remarked as sarcastically as giraffe-ly possible. “Goodness me how does a tree become so bright, it's brighter than the thing up there! Bruh...” Shortie whispered.  “You know what…..” “What” the panting giraffe questioned ``''I don’t know” Shortie really didn’t know what to say….."

Trading Lives With... - Aleenah

Who Would You Trade Lives With?

As of today, we continue writing on several prompts, today my class wrote why and who we would want to trade lives with though majority explained humble responses of how grateful they already are with their lives, you should read there's but here is mine!

"There are some really inspiring people out there but there is one profession I want to see happen. I would like to live the life of a neurosurgeon! It’s quite a particular career in such an intimidating field but I’m just curious. Our brains are quite interesting and in the hands of a neurosurgeon I may be able to study the types of diseases our brain can develop. The medical industry is of curiosity and healing after all. I find my life pretty boring as I’m quite a boring person, I follow the same daily routine everyday and the same stress clouds over me, plus I want to experience what it is like to be an adult and have money too. I’m okay with myself but it isn’t wrong to want to live like other lucky people."

Three Lessons For My Future kids - Aleenah

To My Future Kids

Today was not the usual would you rather's but instead my class wrote about three things we would teach our future children, here is what I wrote but my class has their own blogs you can also see their point of views.

"To the future life of my kid I hope they would apply these values I wish I was taught. May they have freedom of their own mind and actions and not the high stereotypes of people. For they suppress your true self until you never knew who you were since you pretend to be somebody who you aren’t. They would also be taught the significance of themselves and how they matter and not how they are a waste. I wouldn’t want them to feel they are just one more number adding to the population who are a waste of time or supplies because that is just painful. Lastly, they will never be sexist and will appreciate every race, culture and gender in this world as it is what makes us valued. Overall I wouldn’t want to tolerate a youngster who is another version of my spirit."

Which Natural Home? - Aleenah

 Tree House Or Cave House?

For today's would you rather, it was real estate shopping either live in  a treehouse or in a cave? I will tell you my decision.

"I find that caves seem to be more frightening especially with the creatures under the blanket of darkness. I know I would find it disturbing and I will never be able to sleep or even get on the internet! Tree Houses though would probably be a sanctuary for me. To have a house situated under the canopy of trees would put me in a jovial mood. But I should consider that treehouses are prone to natural disasters. But I’m not going to. My wellbeing would really appreciate it if I was happy and at peace so a Treehouse would probably suit my lifestyle."

The Vaccine Clerk To The World - Aleenah

 Edward Jenner

Edward Jenner is a pioneer in the medical industry after creating the first ever vaccine! A vaccine to a terrifying disease in the years before the mid-19th century - smallpox. It was an amazing turnout for the world who has now eradicated smallpox thanks to Edward, but I will have you read more about him in this little retell of his story in my version.

A Robotic Being Or A Jet pack? - Aleenah

 My Robotic Comrade

Jetpacks and robots are BARELY comparable because its obvious to choose a robot! I'm just kidding you can choose either but for me robots are better than jetpacks and here is why:

"Robots and jet packs aren’t too common in many cities, usually they are owned by high profile people with high numbers in their bank account. BUT If I were part of that society, I would want a robot. Robots can be programmed to do anything and it's nice to have a google next to you wherever you go. Jetpacks on the other hand have limited abilities, and it's only flying to a certain height and just being up in the air. Views are cool and all but you can always just admire it down on the ground and it’s pretty dangerous to be so high up with no foam pit to fall on. My robot would be my best friend or my greatest enemy, who knows! As long as my life has some interesting moments with it, I’m living the dream." 🤖

A Haiku Poem - Aleenah

Mysterious Bystander (RE Week 4 Pt 4)

This poem relates to the story of St. Martin. Where his act of selflessness and kindness is rewarded by God. He tore half his cloak and offered it to poor, cold man. The next day, The sun shone brightly among the winter season. So the class was tasked with creating a haiku poem in the eyes of either the poor man or a bystander.

Jesus, Your Trustworthy Friend - Aleenah

 RE (Week 4 Pt 3)

Written under here is another letter also for the followers of Jesus in the future, I describe how Jesus can be dependable and will always be there. I hope you also find comfort in this as well.

To: The Future (Letter) - Aleenah

 RE (Week 4 Pt 2)

Continuing on our reflection, My class was to piece a letter to the future describing today what life was. Here is my version.

Creation Then & Now - Aleenah

RE (Week 4 Pt 1)

For RE, we were to reflect on the creation of God and how gifted we are with nature. So, my class was to design a before and now concept of our garden. Well my garden hasn't been tended in a while and I believe that it would've looked like a jungle. Here is my representation.

Goat Island! - Aleenah

The Picturesque Wonders Of Goat Island

Goat Island is one of NZ's most exquisite marine reserves and summer destinations, with its vibrant life of nature and creatures. Photos of the area are amazing, perfect for a collage. I was to form one a reading task relating to the study of marine reserves, inspired by the expanding of one in the Galapagos Islands.

Promoting Of The BiciBike! - Aleenah

 The BiciBike Party!

This week my class was introduced to the BiciBike party in Barcelona, where kids there bike, skate and scoot to school. My teacher thought it would be a fun idea for the class to create a poster concept promoting it but here in Panmure. For the record, this is just for creative purposes only! Not only that, she also tasked us in designing a bike mobile fit to carry 3 children. Here is my take on those tasks.

St Martin De Porres - Aleenah

St Martin De Porres

Today is the beloved feast day of St. Martin De Porres, who was a man of little self-desire and only wanted what was best for other people. Under here I wrote little bit about him!

St Martin De Porres, Patron Saint of social justice and mixed-race people, descent from his free-indigenous mother and Spanish nobleman father, was born on December 9, 1519.  At the time, mixed-race people were looked down on and had little privilege, certainly unfair for Martin’s family.  I’m sure the racism would’ve been worse in that era but it didn’t seem to bother him too much as he grew in generosity, thoughtfulness and faith. He began to practice spiritual and religious prayers at the early age of 10 which stood with him all the way until his deathbed. Yet, when he started, his fame grew as it was quite uncommon for a child to be so involved in religious life. This later got him an apprenticeship as a barber. A barber in the 15th century was not only a hair stylist but also a medical pharmacy and wound dresser. To his surprise, Martin was skilled and praised for his ability to heal even the scariest infections which earned him several demanded sessions and love from the people of Peru.

It is of course known that St. Martin De Porres was a selfless man ready to offer the pitied people on streets his medical experience and justice. Everybody appreciated his presence as he would always be kind, accepting & loving to anybody of race.

Flying & Soaring - Aleenah

 Flying & Soaring

As per usual, my class starts with our decisive and descriptive writing piece to warm up our brains. As per no surprise, it was a would you rather! this time we would either be invisible or be able to fly.

"If I ever had to choose between these two abilities, I would hope they would be part of my DNA. Specifically the genetics of flight! With such an advantage it would allow me to reach the peaks of impossibility or even space. To be invisible isn’t bad but sometimes I already feel invisible among the 7 billion population on Earth which is still growing by the way. Though I guess that would come in handy when playing hide and seek….. But I really would not hesitate to soar straight through the clouds, atmosphere and maybe planets! Yet it is only possible if a human could fly."

Dancer Or Singer? - Aleenah

Dancer Or Singer?

Today's morning was like usual, I enter my class meet as quietly as I can and we start of with our brains empowered with a few descriptive language ready for writing! Now today I would rather be a amateur dancer!

"A dancer and singer are both in the entertainment industry! Everybody in the world is familiar with these professions because they keep our lives lively. A singer composes lyrics of artistry and rhyme while a dancer uses their body as an instrument, moving to the beat of the sound. I honestly don’t feel myself to match ANY these skills but I guess I would prefer to be a dancer. I know I won’t be good but at least I won’t crack my voice in an anticipating crowd. Though maybe dancing in a team can hide me, well I most likely won't choose solo dancing! My overthinking, embarrassing mind would prevent me from being solo as a singer but maybe as a dancer I won’t have to worry too much about any faults."

What Would The Saints Do? - Aleenah

 Saints In A Covid Pandemic...

Tropical Vacation Dream - Aleenah

Tropical Vacation Dream

The continuation of the 'would you rathers continue'! starting off in Monday with either relax in a beach in NZ or one overseas. I have chosen to vacation somewhere tropical overseas and here is why...

"Out of all the types of natural scenery's I’ve visited in NZ, they have all had some things in common. Grainy sand, icy-cold tides and dark skies. I find that most beaches look the same so I’m kind of tired of them but I do want to visit the beaches overseas, particularly in my home country (I’ve been quite homesick since covid). NZ has wondrous beaches but they always seem gloomy when I appear. I know that in other countries, their waters hold exploration of coral reefs and tropical fish! Ain’t that exciting? Overall my preference is always around the picture perfect scenery of overseas beaches." 🏖

Which Choice Of Magic? - Aleenah

Which Choice Of Magic?

It's the end of the week and we are still continuing this blogging streak! with today's theme of choices being which of these are better for producing magic? a wand or your hand?. Hope you find my reasons understandable.

"There really isn’t much choice of thought when choosing between these two as you have to choose practically and the type of magic that fits that preference is hand magic. It’s just easier to produce magic and it belittles my worries of me losing a wand, I’m very forgetful. Plus isn’t it just convenient? I mean if I were to be in a situation of being against my will, I won’t have a wand being taken away! but I can’t really think of much reason to have a wand except for looking cool in duels with the sparking flair of colors. Now I’ve run out of things to say but just enough to have written my point."
